Scryer Prolog Meetup 2026

On October 24th and 25th, 2026, I attended Scryer Prolog Meetup 2026 in Vienna, Austria. I gave a short talk on my project, ichiban/prolog, there on the last day. This post is the master post for the articles about technical details which I left out of my talk.

It was my first time talking about the project, my first public talk in years, and my first talk in English. I didn’t expect it to go perfectly. I tried to keep looking around the audience to calm myself down. It was the second day. We’d gotten to know each other the day before. Virtually everyone in the audience was my friend by then. Yet, I felt I was losing the audience.

My thinking was this: even though it is a Scryer Prolog meetup, the audience must be mostly users rather than implementers. Also, I believed the most interesting thing about my project wasn’t its technical details, but its uniqueness and strength, if it has one, comes from its placement. So I ditched the technical details and code. I centered my motivation, high-level concepts, and story in the talk.

But the reality was totally different. Most of them are Scryer contributors or implementers of other Prologs. Their talks were highly technical and awesome. I left some extra slides on technical details in case anyone asked about them. I flipped through those slides as a last-ditch effort but couldn’t integrate them in my talk.

After the talk, Prof. Ulrich Neumerkel asked me to share the extra slides. So, I’m going to post some articles on those slides.
